“We meet people where they are — in their darkest moments, in crisis, in silence — and we walk with them toward healing, without judgment, without exception.”
Hope is not a luxury — it is a right. Every person we serve deserves to believe their life can change.
We go where people are, not where it is convenient. Real, tangible support without conditions or delay.
We speak up for those silenced, overlooked, or misunderstood by systems built to serve them.
Every person is worthy — fully seen because of their humanity. A diagnosis is never a verdict.
With God by your side, you will always win. There but for the grace of God go I.
Every person has a God-given purpose. Our work is to help them find it, stand in it, and live it.
Five programs built around the real, compounding barriers that keep vulnerable individuals from healing.
Safe, stable housing paired with comprehensive mental health services — not just a bed, but a bridge to a life rebuilt.

We are actively building partnerships across Hampton Roads. If your organization shares our mission, we would love to connect.
“Together we go further than we could ever go alone.”
Every gift goes directly to the people who need it most. No one who reaches out to The GodWin Foundation will leave without hope and a next step.
The GodWin Foundation was not born in a boardroom. It was born in a life — in 25 years of working across various positions in the human services field, witnessing firsthand what happens when people in crisis have nowhere to turn.
Founder Danielle Godwin carries her father’s name as both a legacy and a declaration. Her mother taught her: “Never think you are better than anyone else, because at any moment, that could be you.”
“There but for the grace of God go I.”
Danielle Godwin — Founder & President/CEOGodwin. With God, I win. It is not just a name — it is a covenant. And it is the promise this organization makes to everyone it serves.
Mental illness does not discriminate. It affects the mother nearly losing her children solely because of a diagnosis. The veteran coming home carrying invisible wounds. The family without language for what they are experiencing.
For over 25 years, Danielle witnessed the judgment and disregard for individuals with mental illness running quietly through the systems designed to serve them. These questions did not leave her. They fueled her.
“Treat every person you serve as if that is you — with care, compassion, and dignity, despite anything else.”
Former CSB Director — as recalled by Danielle GodwinFounder & President/CEO
Danielle Godwin is a seasoned human services professional with over 25 years of experience working alongside individuals living with mental illness, housing instability, and systemic inequity. She founded The GodWin Foundation because she could not look away.
After decades of witnessing people in crisis be dismissed and failed by the systems meant to serve them, she decided: if no one was going to build what was needed, she would.
Safe, stable residential environments for individuals experiencing homelessness alongside mental health crises. Comprehensive wrap-around services including case management, mental health referrals, medication support, life skills development, and long-term resource connection. Not just a bed — a bridge to a life rebuilt.
Personalized mental health support, peer connection, and resource navigation for service members transitioning out of military life who face invisible wounds and may distrust traditional VA systems. A confidential, faith-sensitive, judgment-free environment for healing.
Immediate mental health assessment, resource connection, and transitional support at the point of release from incarceration. Structured support during the critical first 90 days, meeting individuals with dignity and a genuine next step.
Public education, outreach, and awareness campaigns to dismantle the stigma surrounding mental illness across families, schools, faith communities, and the general public — beginning in Hampton Roads and expanding outward.
Guided navigation through community resources, public benefits, and free or low-cost mental health services for uninsured and underinsured adults. No one who walks through our doors will leave without a plan and a next step.

Adults transitioning from incarceration who face mental health challenges alongside systemic barriers to housing, employment, and services.
Individuals who need mental health services but cannot access them due to lack of insurance or inability to afford care. We exist to bridge this gap.
